Dear readers,

I wanted to take the time to thank you all for being here all along. The thing is, lately, I feel like I am more and more tired and my dutch class requires lots of study time at home. At least I hope my level will improve, since I have been feeling a bit stuck lately. Also, I would like to be able to dedicate more time to writing this little wonderful thing that has let me get in contact with all of you. All this is to say, that I will still be here, but not everyday anymore. It will be more like a 3 times per week thing. I hope you will still come by. If you aren't already doing so, you could follow me (if you would so like of course), or subscribe by email (the button is on the bottom right side). Otherwise just feel free to visit whenever :), you are always welcome in my little internet home for a cup of tea, or a piece of cake or something nice.
On other news... do you see the sleeping couch above? Well that's one of the perks of having a salary, we can finally afford to put some money aside and make our little home less empty. We wanted to get it for such a long time. It is important because we really want to be able to have friends and family over, we want to make "hospitality" one of the pillars of our marriage, much like the lovely Sharon described in this thoughtful post. To cite her wedding service:

"Give them such fulfillment of their mutual affection that they may reach out in love and concern for others."

Oh and we finally found a place for that patchwork blanket. My mom made it for us, out of pieces of leftover cloth from all the dresses she used to make me and my sister when we were little. Oh and here's a bonus.

I don't know why but lately we buy bananas (not even so many, 4 per week, maximum), and we are not eating them. Then they turn black. And then I have to do something about them, because I am strongly against throwing food away. So if this ever happens to you, you can try this crunchy muffins that I already talked about here, or you can make this banana bread. Simple easy and perfect.  I made it last week and it was over in a day and a half, so I'm guessing it was not so bad.

  1. Blogging daily takes a lot of time, so I say feel free to blog as much or as little as it suits your life. I'll stay here, reading you whenever you post :)
Love the couch and the patchwork blanket, such a lovely present, full of memories!

    Saludos! Y te seguirémos leyendo!
    Doei!

  4. I think it's really healthy to take the 'daily' pressure off of yourself. I love your blog but I'd rather read 3 posts a week which you always feel good about writing than daily posts which make you stress. Also it's a good thing that your life is fuller now you're happy and at work, right?
Your patchwork quilt is gorgeous. I would love something like that, especially with so many memories from childhood.

  5. That daybed/guest-bed looks really sweet with your patchwork blanket. Well, no wonder, I love patchwork! :) Our wedding invitations were made with pieces of old fabrics full of memories, like those ones.

Once a week, twice a day... who cares? This is your space, we're glad to have you sharing who you are, as you feel like. Daily publishing is hard. I know that sometimes I struggle to have something to publish. And I have all sorts of already started posts, but most of the time I dont find the proper mood to get it done, or the time to do it properly... Nice to see you excited with all this new things in your life.

  6. Oh, and keep on with those dutch lessons! We'll be needing a translator when we fly over there one day :) I was wondering, what language do you and Mark speak with each other?

  7. @ Marcela, thanks so much, and yes, I was so happy with the patchwork quilt.

@ nicsnotebook, Thanks, and yeah, bananas in the oven are nice. I also want to try ice-cream, I have read if you freeze the bananas and then start beating them you get something very creamy and healthy.

@ Ley, si... tienes razón. Y el holandés, pues paso a paso . A mi siempre me gusto lo de hacer pasteles, y galletas sueño con poner un cafecito, de esos que entras y huele a recién horneado. Y gracias .

@ Claire, aww thanks for the support and for being here all the time. On Sunday when we got the quilt out of the vacuum bag where we had it, I was remembering all those dresses and when I wore them, and my sister as well. It is quite special.

@ Ines, I want to see your invitations, I think I saw them once but I am not sure if it was that or your game favors. You creative girl... I am still afraid of the sewing machine. And thaaanks. Hehe we will translate for you no worries. And Mark and me speak mostly in english, but we are starting with dutch and spanish (he also took some lessons and understands quite a lot). It is difficult because we tend to forget, it's like, oh we're not supposed to speak english to each other anymore...We should practice...

  9. there's nothing more cozy than a handmade patchwork quilt, is there? that looks so lovely. it's my hope too to have a lovely guest room for visitors someday; i love your sentiment about hospitality.

my boyfriend and i have the same issue -- we naturally fall into speaking English together (with a little Japanese mixed in), and have to keep reminding ourselves to use French. we're going to try a new rule where we only use French after 8pm. we'll see how that goes...

  10. @Lilie, well you can come over anytime... you know, by train, bus, airplane... there are cheap options. Haha french after 8 pm nds like fun., like sleepy french.
