#January Joy 1: Make some resolutions

Here we are, on the first day of a brand new year. I am genuinely happy to be able to start over from scratch, to renew hope, to jump on new adventures. Like I have been saying to the boy, this is the year where we'll get things done. So let's start with a neat list.

-We will continue on fertility treatments. We know and feel and hope this will be the year. It has to be. Our baby is coming. It is our top goal, wish, hope, dream. We know very well  that we have basically no control over this, but we are taking every step needed and doing everything we can.

- I am finally going to take the bull by the horns and take the official Dutch exam. I had been procrastinating this for I don't even know how long, telling myself that I would first be sure to be ready and then take the dreaded exam. But I do not work like that. I work under pressure. So I enrolled myself for the session at the end of this month. Knowing that the exam is paid for and that I will do it will make me study hard, so that's what a good deal of January will be all about. You could also say this is proof that I am becoming more Dutch in my attitude towards life, since one of the main motivations to finally deciding to take this exam was the knowledge that it will get more expensive as of today.

-Last year I promised myself I would exercise... the boy and I had a plan of running together. Well, I am very ashamed to recognize here that it did not happen. Not even once. So this year we have decided to make it more fun and we will take dancing (salsa) lessons together with a couple of friends. I know it is not the same as training, but it is also not the same as spending most of the time sitting in the couch, so I will consider it progress.

-I have one pretty big project in mind that I can not tell you about yet, but I am taking very concrete steps towards it and I will keep you informed as soon as this something in my head is something in real life. Hopefully soon.

-Travel: we want to continue on our journey to discover the World, bit by bit, near and far. This includes day trips, road trips, walks in the park and flying overseas. We pretty much want to go everywhere, so we'll take any destination.

-I also intend to try and make curtains for our last room whose window is bare and take lessons for my European driver license.

-And does trying to convince the boy to take me to David Guetta + Mika in Marseille next June count as a resolution?

Anyhow, I think I better stop here, because like I said, this year I want to get things done, and so, I want to keep things doable. I want stuff to happen. Good stuff. Magic stuff. The real deal.
