You know it really is Spring when the lambs are here. One of my favorite places to visit in The Netherlands are the "Kinderboerderijen" or petting farms. They are meant for children, but, as I am a 5-year-old at heart who loves animals, you can imagine how happy these places make me. But, really, is there anything cuter than freshly born, cute little fluffy sheep? Well, maybe cows, but that is just me who finds them sweet. We went biking along the farms and canals, saw windmills and stopped for a classic pancake and ice-cream (even if it was still kind of chilly, though, I've got to recognize, also quite sunny). How was your weekend? Do you have any place

Naar de kinderboerderij. Or the classic post with lambs.

Oh these are awesome! There are similar farms over here but I don't think you can pop in unannounced... they're not open to the public I believe though we used to go as a school outing when we were kids.
ReplyDeleteWe had a pretty busy weekend between making experiments with a smoke machine, handball matches and helping out a friend update his bathroom. Thankfully I have today off so I can rest :)
Here they are also *mostly* meant for kids who come on school visits, but since there are a lot of families they are open to the public as well, specially on weekends.
DeleteSmoke machine? What did you smoke? I hope you will tell us all about it! Handball sounds fun. I hope you were able to have some well deserved rest.
Ohhh, for me is anywhere near the ocean! I feel such at peace and happy. Here in NYC is Coney Island for me! The aquarium is right there, the beach, the ocean, the boardwalk, funnel cake!!! Can't wait till it's all in season again!
ReplyDeleteI really want to see Coney island. Did you know the name comes from Dutch... apparently there used to be rabbits running around and the Dutch settlers called it: "Konijn Eiland" from which the current name derived. (Konijn being pronnounced something like conighn)
DeleteAnd I agree, the ocean brings that kind of happy peace too. I love aquariums as well!
Wow, I didn't know that! That's pretty cool. I like learning all about NY's Dutch past :)
DeleteAs soon as the weather warms up enough for me to head down there I'll take pictures and post them for you ;)
Those little sheep are so adorable!
ReplyDeleteWe went to Miami for the weekend, and when we got to the beach, I was practically in paradise.
Oh wow Miami for the weekend ! How nice ! I know the feeling of reaching the beach and just being in heaven... sun, ocean, smell, and barefoot walks.
DeleteThe sheep were extremely cute. I especially love the one in the back of its mother.
so adorable! there is nothing like baby animals to cheer me up. I love petting farms too, animals just make me so happy with all their innocence and fluffiness and cleverness; I completely understand you on this one.
ReplyDeleteThere really is something very special about animals, sometimes it feels like we can communicate with them (and I am talking not only about dogs and cats, who are more expressive, but with other "less" expressive animals, like cows).
DeleteAnd baby animals... just can't handle that much sweetness.
