Boy-approved lipstick
I am not a kind of girl who uses loads and loads of makeup. Making face-cream a part of my daily routine was a big, big step for me. I do love blusher (preferably peach) and I really like the effect of lip-gloss. When I have no other option than to wear at least some makeup (job interviews, parties), I'll add a bit of black eyeliner on my lower lid, mascara and translucent powder to control shine, but that's about it.
The thing is, the boy absolutely hates the sticky consistency and flavor of each and everyone of my lip glosses, and if I dare wear some he won't give me any kisses. So I have opted out. I'm not using glosses anymore. I used to love a makeup line called Stila, but for some reason they seem to have stopped distributing it in Europe, or I don't know where to find their products. Back in the day (probably 2002) I fell in love with their lip stains. But I ran out of my last two bars and hadn't been able to replace them with a similar product.
So when I found Seventeen Berry Crush lip stains while looking for products at a pharmacy in London Gatwick, I had to give them a try. Well, I am really happy with them. They are very easy to apply: just like a felt-tipped marker, and, bonus, they come with a lip balm (like an eraser on a pencil). They give lots of color with a natural matte-effect and more importantly they have been approved by the boy which means I get kisses.
Do you have any makeup products that you can't leave without? Any recent discoveries?
*This is not a sponsored post. I am just sharing this because I really really like this product and I had been looking for such a lip stain for ages before finally finding a way to add color to my lips without having to sacrifice on kisses :)

Lip stains are the bomb. Lip colour is one of those things I don't often wear, but it's the only way I can get away with colour on my lips and still getting kisses.
ReplyDeleteThe only downside I find is if my lips aren't super moisturized the colour doesn't stay put evenly and if lips get flaky it comes off really easy,
That's a good tip about the moisturizing... I am guessing that's why they made is with lip balm. But in general I think stains stay longer than your average cream lipstick (or maybe that's just me... between talking, eating and licking my lips it disappears quite fast).
DeleteOhhhh! I love lip stains! My favorite right now is Revlon's Just Bitten collection (http://www.revlon.com/Revlon-Home/Products/Lips/lipstain/Just-Bitten-Lip-Stain.aspx). They also have a lip balm on the other end :)
ReplyDeleteI've never been a fan of lipstick so for a while I also had to decide between having color on my lips or getting kisses. But then I found C.O Bigelow's Mentha Lip collection (http://www.bigelowchemists.com/search?q=mentha+lip) and I no longer had to sacrifice! They have both clear and tinted lines. Their formula is super light AND it actually tastes really good! Recently I found their Lemon Strawberry Tinted Lip Balm (http://www.bigelowchemists.com/skincare/lips/c-o-bigelow-lemon-strawberry-tinted-lip-balm-no-1426.html) and I absolutely love it! Another light, yummy tasting formula :)
I don't know if they have C.O Bigelow in NL, but if you can find them those lip glosses and lip balms are the bomb! Well, everything by them is awesome... lol
Oh thanks for the tips, I am not sure I have seen those brands over here but I will have a look around :)
DeleteLet me know if you don't find them, I'll be glad to mail you some for you to try! =D
DeleteThat's a great color. Nice and peachy. I like lip stains too because I always forget to put lipstick/lipgloss on at all and then when I do remember, I never reapply. That being said, I agree with Sheryl, that some of the lip stains I've tried tend to get dry and then wear off in odd ways. Since I don't pay enough attention to my lips, I don't notice that the fading pattern makes it look like I've been sucking on a blood popsicle.
ReplyDeleteI love peach tones... from blush to lips (once I tried eyeshadow but that was not a good idea, it looked great on the models that were used for the photoshoot, on me, it looked like my eyes were puffy/swollen, so for that I guess I better stick to browns and beiges).
DeleteSucking on a blood popsicle doesn't sound good.... but I did use to love having an intense red tongue from Tootsie pops (red lollipops with bubblegum in the center, I think you have those too?).
(Muchos saludos).
